What to do when you’re feeling stuck in your lifestyle.

Often, I think about what causes people to finally hit their breaking point and start working on their own self growth? The desire for transformation and being unstuck starts with making change.

I think the idea that we have to change things, even though necessary to get unstuck, is also the very real “sticking point” for many people. When we start to make different choices whether that looks like eating healthier, setting boundaries with friends & family, or even just being honest with ourselves requires us to make a change more mentally & emotionally than anything else.

Just beginning to think about what you want your life to look like can be the beginnings of setting yourself off in a different direction. I was given a task recently from my therapist to write a “True North” list.

What is a “True North” list you might ask?

This is a list of all things big and small that you have dreams and desires for in your life. For me this list contains things as small as getting a new water bottle or bath towels to huge goals like month long hiking trip to Southern Patagonia or working to make my life as simple as possible.

It is important that we have both small and big things that we are aspiring to do, writing down & moving towards. This is a list that can constantly evolve as we grow and learn more about what we do and don’t like.

It is true that all inspiration and changes in our lives start with a thought or idea and evolve as we set the intention of moving towards those things.

Remember change starts with just looking a different direction and changing your thoughts before action ensues.
